Reading Journal
Privacy policy
Effective 12 October 2026 · App version 1.0.0
Reading Journal is an offline Android app published by Zentavio. Your books, notes, and reading history stay on your device. You do not need an account to use the app.
What stays on your device
The app stores book titles, authors, shelves, selected cover photos, reading progress, sessions, ratings, notes, quotes, goals, and settings in its private storage on your Android device. It uses this information to show your library and reading activity.
The app does not send your library to Zentavio or automatically share it with other companies. It has no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or cloud service built in, and it does not request internet access.
Cover photos
You can choose an individual image through Android’s system file picker. The app resizes the selected image, removes its photo metadata, and stores a local JPEG copy as your book cover. It does not request access to your camera, entire photo library, contacts, or location.
Backups you choose to make
Exporting a backup creates a readable, unencrypted JSON file containing your books, cover photos, notes, reading history, goals, and settings. A running timer is not included. You choose where to save the file through Android’s system file picker.
If you choose a cloud storage provider in the picker, that provider handles the file under its own privacy policy. Reading Journal does not connect to a cloud provider automatically. Restoring a backup reads the file you choose and, after your confirmation, replaces your current library.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your local records remain until you delete them, clear the app’s data in Android settings, or uninstall the app. In Reading Journal, you can delete individual books, notes, and sessions, remove sample content, or erase all local data in Settings. Deleting a book also removes its related notes and sessions.
Exported backups stay wherever you saved them and must be deleted separately. Android’s automatic app backup is disabled, so export a backup before changing devices or uninstalling if you want to keep your library. Zentavio cannot recover a library that exists only on your device.
Protecting your library
Android’s app isolation and your device security protect the app’s private storage. Reading Journal does not have a separate app passcode, and exported backups are not encrypted. Secure your device and keep backups somewhere you trust.
Children and personal content
Reading Journal is a general reading utility. It does not ask for your age or identity. Content you type or choose stays in your local library. The app has no public feed, social sharing service, or messaging feature.
